Tidy Museum
As they says – Start was Perfect , Now we need to keep the momentum. A perfect start was made by TidyCity team by cleaning up the entire Museum compound. Though we werent able to make 100% cleanup, the area we covered(almost 3/4th ) of the entire compound were litter less! You can read a detailed report by Cris here.
A few points to share from this attempt :
- Apart from a few, people normally wont care whats going around them .
- Those who care, after giving a what-on-hell-they-are-doing look, come and ask what exactly is happening.
- I could see their urge to escape from the conversation, as soon as I says come and join us!
- Even if there is a trash bin within walkable distance, people generally prefers to throw some disturbing wastes such as used baby diapers to the nearest bushes. (Yes we found nasty number of them near lawns !! )
- No matter, how strong our rules are, people still uses public places for drinking alchohol and throw away empty(one thing they make sure of! ) bottles .
- Childrens! They sets an example to their elder generation by taking part in our attempt .
- Government services are understaffed! They dont have enough cleaners in Museum to cover the entire campus. (Words from Museum Officials ! )
- Most common kind of litter were pan covers!
Some shots from the action:
- After 2 hours of cleaning, here we are!
- Easiest way of Waste Management is : Hide it!
- Kiddie after dropping his share of trash to our sack!

The bad effects of accumulating waste
The only creatures in the world to accumulate waste are human beings.
Without even thinking of the after effects of accumulating wastes they are going ahead in creating more and more waste everyday in every walks of their lives. From the houses, industries, markets, shopping complexes, industries, offices, and places of recreations, automobiles, planes, space-shuttles – and this list is endless! What a shame on us to pollute our own living place-earth without shame. Human beings boast off about common sense-which lower animals don’t have. But with immense sadness I have to tell that we human beings lack common sense! What the so-called lower animals possess!
No other animals will pollute their own place of living as we do. Whatever the waste animals create is biodegradable. We produce liquid and solid wastes, both organic and inorganic wastes, poisonous and non-poisonous wastes, about which we don’t even care to think about! No other animals live in their own wastes except humans!
We are polluting the precious rivers, sea, air, water and sand with our wastes. Even in the space, we are dumping our innumerable space shuttles and other discarded unwanted materials after our experiments either fails us or are found useless over a period of time!
We pollute our own drinking water of the which the main sources are the fresh water bodies-rivers, ponds etc. We forget that these bodies are home to innumerable numbers of other living organisms upon which we also depend for our food. We pollute the sea water with our waste water from our industries without even thinking that the entire life on earth depend upon sea for their survival. Including ours! We pollute the air with the exhaust from our automobiles, and also with the discarded smoke from our various industries.
We pollute our scaffold-the sand over which we build our houses, our roads, our schools, offices and every other building. We forget that we depend on the sand totally for our food. We poison the sand by adding chemical manures in the name of higher yields form our crops. We apply pesticides in the name of destroying the so-called weeds and parasites, and we totally forget that along with them we also are destroyed-both our body and mind along with our soul! We eat everyday fruits, vegetables, grains loaded with pesticides and preservatives. We drink polluted water, we breather polluted air, and we live amidst numerous poisonous gases around us.
WE also pollute our own minds with poisonous thoughts, with jealousy towards our fellowmen, hared towards our fellow neighbors, total disrespect towards entire living beings. It is utterly shameful that we ourselves are a total waste for this earth!
